Tran’s is a multi award winning Vietnamese restaurant located in the heart of Mosman, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. Established in 1995, Tran’s aims to consistently provide high quality, fresh Vietnamese food in a relaxing and homely atmosphere with friendly service, whilst providing the best value for their guests.

 

 

Our Cuisine.

We offer authentic Vietnamese food, which is very fresh, simple, healthy and easy to digest. The delicious flavours come together through a balance of taste and texture; through the philosophy of yin and yang. In Vietnamese culture, when we invite someone into our home, we invite them into our kitchen. So, our restaurant is welcoming and friendly, like visiting someone’s home. What makes our food so tasty, and different from that of our neighbour, Thailand, is the variety of herbs used.  All our herbs are home grown by owner and chef, Lanna, our sauces home made and our ingredients, the best quality. So, we invite you into our home to enjoy a healthy and authentic Vietnamese meal. Our signature dishes include the Vietnamese rice pancake, crispy boneless duck, lemongrass and ginger chicken and minced goat curry. Most of our dishes are gluten free and we offer vegetarian meals. 

Head Chef Profile: Lanna Tran

 

Lanna is not only the head chef, but owner of Tran’s.  She had an idyllic early childhood in the most southern part of Vietnam surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Mekong River, rice farms, herb gardens and cattle and from a very early age, was fascinated with food preparation and cooking as she watched her Father debone a whole fish and reassemble it perfectly on the dining table.

 

Lanna’s childhood was interrupted by the Vietnam War and, separated from her family, she fled Vietnam by boat and came to Australia, alone, as a 13 year old refugee, via a refugee camp in Malaysia. 

Lanna’s cooking reflects her memories of her childhood home.  She grows her own herbs and carefully selects them nightly for her dishes. A Sydney food critic wrote, “The secret of Lanna’s delicious dishes is a combination of fresh and fragrant produce, cooked to perfection with subtle flavours and mouth-watering sauces emitting splendid aromas”. Lanna opened Tran’s Restaurant in 1995 and has since won a number of State and Metropolitan Awards including Best Asia Pacific Restaurant and Best Specialty Restaurant of the Year.
