TRAN'S Dinner Tuesday to Sunday The ambience may have gone upmarket thanks to a recent renovation, but the prices have stayed the same at this local favourite that's well loved for attentive service and flavoursome Vietnamese cuisine. It's hard to go past the fresh-tasting see through ricepaper rolls for starters; they're filled with pork, prawns, noodles and fresh mint and only $7.50. If you can resist that, we defy you to pass on the crisp rice pancakes, again filled with pork, prawns, sprouts and lime fish sauce $13. Mains display the same balanced elegance, with standouts including lemongrass and chilli beef $17, prawns with bok choy, snowpeas, cauliflower and herbs $19, or the drunken cow, which shows some French influence - it's veal cooked in a claypot with red wine, carrots and mushrooms $17. A touch of Gallic flair in the mango creme caramel, too.
